What interests whom? Who has any use of art? What can one do with it? In their  ”moving research “To Whom it may Concern” young Slovene dancers and choreographers Rosana Hribar and Gregor Lustek  question the basics of presenting, understanding and thinking art today. In the midst of their attention is the paradox of the contemporary position of “acceptance” of artistic content and “dissemination” of individual forms, especially those fragile ones when it comes to a “fluid” arts discipline such as contemporary dance.

In the midst of the latter is the ambivalent process of observation which, to be understood needs a concept, and then one which will be such that it will prevail on the level of the non-conceptual. To prevail (a concept closed in its own expressive position) it is essential for the “suicide of the concept” to occur, and this can only happen in the area of the body. The body grasps the concept by its throat, chews it up and spits its out, in order for itself to be able to speak out. At the same time it is not about “replacing” nor is it about “survival” – rather it is about a new beginning which can only establish its own conditions for its being and action. The artist/ dancer  must deliver the “suicide of the concept” alone, and to ensure the “purity” of its own poetics it must throw the baby out with the water.

It is about the stories of the body which seek a common denominator. Their continuing quest, merging with themselves, self-questioning, and always with a cause.  On the other end there is always someone observing.  Who follows or not, who understands or no, but always someone who takes something. They always take exactly the one thinig they understand and that is to follow.  It is not necessarily you, it is always your movement, your gesture, which speaks which creates and which fulfills the void in the other.  It creates a potential energy that feeds the audience, however it does not admit to it even when it recognizes it. Why then this story of yours, but to – simply put – dance it out – that is you learn regardless of whom it impacts or whom it concerns.
